It’s that time of year! The sun is shining and all of us are aching to start exploring the beautiful mountains in our backyard. Starting today, June 22nd, all backcountry camping reservations for the rest of the 2021 season opens!
If you want to camp at Garibaldi, Joffre Lake, Mount Robson, Bowron Lakes and Assiniboine Provincial Parks – you’ll have to make a reservation. Typically, most provincial parks around British Columbia do not require a backcountry camping reservation as the sites are first-come, first-serve. However, these five are so popular that BC Parks is requiring all visitors to book in advance to avoid crowding, especially during the covid-19 pandemic.
From June 22nd – July 8th, only BC residents are permitted to make reservations at these provincial parks. So be sure to log-in today to make your reservation at one of these iconic trails before it opens up for out-of-province visitors.
Otherwise, starting June 23rd, all day-hikers will require a day pass to visit Garibaldi, Joffre Lakes, Stawamus Chief, Golden Ears and Mount Robson Provincial Parks. Luckily, these day passes are free and simply serve to regulate the amount of visitors on the trails. Because these trails are so popular, you need to reserve your day pass at 7AM the day before you plan to visit. You can get your day pass, here.
We’re all itching to get outdoors so don’t miss out on the incredible trails that BC has to offer and make your reservation in advance!
