Get excited, all of Canada´s top athletes are gearing up for the long-anticipated Winter Olympic Games in Beijing.
From February 4th – February 20th, you can stream all the events completely for free on CBC´s website! Live coverage of the opening ceremony began this morning (3:30am PST to be precise…) but the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Cauldron at Jack Poole Plaza will be lighting up tonight to celebrate! Can you believe it´s already been 12 years since we hosted the games in our own backyard?
We´ve got our eyes on all the athletes coming from our home province, British Columbia that are competing. The official site of the Olympics also has a huge comprehensive list of all the time slots for the events of Team Canada´s athletes to watch for.
Keep in mind that there is a 16 hour time difference between us here in Vancouver and Beijing – so you may need to stay up a little late to catch some of these events.
Be sure to look out for the Comox born, Cassie Sharpe on the ski halfpipe. She snagged the gold in the ski halfpipe in Pyeongchang in 2018, is a 6x X-Games medallist and won the X-Games gold in Aspen in 2019, and Oslo in 2016. Let´s gooo!!
Other athletes we´re anxiously watching include (but are not limited to) Quebecois skier Mickael Kingsbury, snowboarder Mark McMorris and of course, the Women´s Hockey team. After painful loss in a shoot-out last Olympics, this unbelievably determined team of women is one to watch. Let´s go, Canada!!
