Supporting local restaurants and encouraging creative takes on this tasty, national dish – La Poutine Week is a must-try this February.
This year, La Poutine Week is celebrating their 10th anniversary and have gifted the country with a whole extra second week of festivities. For the first two weeks of February, you can join the over 500k participants nation-wide in taste-testing the most unique and crazy takes on a classic Canadian dish.
Originally from Montreal, this poutine festival has grown a lot since their humble beginnings. Now operating in most major Canadian cities annually, they´ve raised over $400k in total and supported over 2500 local restaurants. It´s a fun way to get out and try top Canadian chef´s creative spins on a classic.
Last year, some of our favourite local restaurants participated with mouth-watering flavours like Lucky Taco´s Sexi Fries that was jam-packed with spicy chorizo, pico de gallo, and queso blanco. Another creative take that we loved was Glowbal´s Maple Buffalo Prawn and Bacon Poutine and we couldn´t be more excited to see what they come up with this year.
This year, it looks like there will be delicious additions from The Cider House, like their Roasted Mushroom Poutine, and fan-favourite Juke Fried Chicken´s Clay Fries – yum! Don´t sleep on this delicious food festival of Canada´s most iconic dish. You´ve only got two weeks to try all the 17 unique flavours you can!
