PNE WinterLights is Vancouver’s only holiday-thru experience.
With all the restrictions on events this year, many have found it harder than ever to find fun ways to safely celebrate the holiday season with the family. If you find yourself having that same challenge, fret not: a new, COVID-friendly holiday drive-thru has opened up in Vancouver at the PNE Grounds. Arriving just in time for the holidays, PNE WinterLights runs from December 12, 2020 until January 3, 2021 with the mission of safely spreading a bit of festive joy at the end of this unusual year to people of all ages.
At this special holiday experience, you can expect to cruise past nine enchanted lands filled with dazzling lights, magical displays, and festive performers who will help you find Santa. There will be a beautiful Merry & Bright Forest with classic Christmas songs playing for you to sing along to. You’ll also drive past the Polar North where you can spot igloos, polar bears, seals, and penguins, and you can’t miss the 50-foot purple Christmas tree!
The 2 km drive is expected to take approximately 30 to 45 minutes. You’ll have the chance to purchase food, drinks, and souvenirs to take home from one of the food trucks at the end of the route. All guests are asked to remain in their vehicles throughout the entire experience and to only travel with those in their household to comply with provincial health guidelines. In addition, everyone over the age of 2 is required to wear a mask or facial covering.
Ready to buckle up for this festive ride? Tickets are sold per vehicle and cost $39 for groups of 4 or less and $49 for groups with more than 5 passengers. There is also a $25 Late Night Date Night deal for 2 passengers after 9 pm. All tickets will be scanned through car windows to minimize contact during the experience. Guests are encouraged to arrive 15 minutes before their designated time slot.
To access the event, head to Gate 9 which is east of Playland just off Bridgeway Street.
