1. Check out an exhibit at the Vancouver Art Gallery
The Vancouver Art Gallery is a classic date night spot, rain or shine. You can always count on seeing some fantastic local artists or a beautiful exhibit that’ll give you a refreshing cultural experience. On right now is the awesome Yoko Ono exhibit, Growing Freedom, that is truly a must-see! Don’t forget that Tuesday nights from 5pm to 8pm is by donation!
2. Watch a movie in theatres
Lucky for us, there are tons of hit movies out right now in theatres. The long anticipated Dune movie is out, as well as the French Dispatch; both of which we absolutely loved. On our bucket list is the Last Night in Soho and the House of Gucci. The Fifth Avenue cinema is one of our favourite spots to watch a new movie, but there are tons of cool movie theatres all over the city.
3. Release your inner child at one of Vancouver´s best arcade bars
Is there anything more fun than having a drink and playing arcade games with your friends at a retro arcades bar? You don´t need sunshine to go crazy on the air hockey table or to challenge your friends in a game of pool. And the best part? They have all -day happy hour on Tuesdays and events pretty much every night of the week. There´s always something fun happening here.
4. Get lost in an immersive art show
Wander through the stunning frescos of Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel at the Exhibition coming to Vancouver in November. Using a special printing technique, this beautiful exhibit brings to life the look and feel of the original paintings to a whole other magnitude. Grab your tickets and experience the beauty of the Sistine Chapel (without flying to Italy).
5. Try your luck at Trivia Night
This local Kitsilano bar is home to fantastic happy hours and week-day deals, but our favourite night to visit is Trivia Night! But trust us, you won´t believe how competitive these can get…see if you and a date can handle yourselves one of these nights.
6. Spend a wholesome morning in the Granville Island Public Market
Even in the rain, a visit to Granville Island is the perfect way to spend the morning. Stock up on the best local produce, delicious cheeses and meats, and grab a warm drink at one of the cafes inside. Honestly, a wander along the seawall here is always lovely, even when the sky is grey.
